Online video games allow people from different backgrounds to connect, collaborate, compete, and form communities in virtual worlds, providing a sense of belonging and social connection, and promoting communication, strategy, and leadership skills. While gaming communities offer numerous benefits, they also face various challenges. Online toxicity can emerge within these environments, negatively impacting players&#8217; experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>PROPS \u2013 Interactive Narratives Propose Pluralistic Speech<\/em><\/strong> (2023-2024) was a project funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology, focused on media prevention and education to curb online hate speech in videogames. It was a project in the field of Communication Sciences that aimed to address hate speech through the development of multiple interactive digital narratives, with the goal of attracting, motivating, and engaging educators, teachers, children, and young people to reflect on and discuss this social phenomenon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Considering gaming culture as a vehicle to promote democratic values and digital citizenship, <strong><em>PROPS \u2013 Interactive Narratives Proposing Pluralistic Speech<\/em><\/strong> aimed to encourage positive behaviors that could mitigate online hate speech, promoting digital tolerance and inclusion. Interactive narratives, video games, pedagogical itineraries, and gamification were used to incite teachers and students to reflect on and discuss this contemporary social challenge.
